PAMELA GRAU PROJECTS
As a visual artist I try to communicate that which defies words or understanding. I have explored religions, philosophies and nature looking at the handiwork of the divine and I see it everywhere. For me everything is explained in nature. We see structure and chaos, planned directions and creative adaptions. Intentions set to evolve in one direction only to be affected by a slight change in a distant weather pattern. It is quantum chaos that intrigues me in art, randomness and constructions, the interplay of colors and textures, the building of patinas that rely on histories of past activities.

Patinas develop over time and layers. It is a building up process that is best achieved outside in the elements.

Jeffrey and I enjoy our 5 acre studio in Joshua Tree and enjoy long days of silence and uninterrupted creating.
Some of my work is extremely large. These three panels for the Ojai Valley Inn were designed to be viewed at a 60 ft distance and spaced 6 inches apart.
I never feel done. Luckily, this installation needed a fork lift so this was my last chance to put my brush to the piece.
Much of my work is created outside due to size and fumes.
Sticks, acorns, pods collected on camping trips are quickly made into new pieces.
